Fishing
For eager anglers there are fishing facilities close by.
Florida’s many lakes are well stocked with Bass. There are lakes available with day permits for fishing. Some locations offer either boats for hire or fishing from the bank.
Only 75 minutes drive away is the coast where you can experience a days off shore fishing for big game fish such as shark and marlin.
To fish you will need a non-residents fishing permit. Florida Fishing Permits are available by calling 1-888-FISH FLORIDA when in Florida. Many Wal-Marts and Walgreens also sell fishing permits.
FRESHWATER FISHING
The Orlando area is renown for it’s Bass fishing, where there are many lakes within easy reach. Our home is in Lake County, aptly named because there are so many lakes. For information on fishing here are some useful links. http://www.lakecountyfl.gov/hometown_highlights/fishing_in_lake_county.aspx http://www.lakecountybass.com/ http://www.centralfloridafishingreport.com/FishingInfo/97.html http://www.ultimatefishingsite.net/states/florida/lakecounty.html
You can bank fish at most locations or there are also organised outings by boat that include tackle, bait and a guide to ensure you are fishing the best spots.
SALTWATER FISHING
The Indian River on the East Coast of Florida has a great abundance of saltwater species including Tarpon and Redfish and makes a very worth while trip. Other fish including Snook and Trout can be found here too.
If you want something different try fishing on the grass flats or mangrove swamps on the Indian River. Florida’s East Coast flats fishing is some of the best you will find anywhere. We are told by those who like to fish that as the weather warms up so do the Trout and Redfish! Both move onto the flats and the action can be incredible.
Then just when you think it couldn't get any better, along comes a monster Snook that takes the bait and you for a ride. So get ready for some serious fishing.
