HOW WE CAME TO
OWN OUR HOME IN FLORIDA
Working for
an international airline, we’d both been frequent visitors to the States and especially to
Florida. We’d often thought about buying a holiday home, perhaps in France or Spain but
when we though about our favourite times, especially with our two young daughters, we
thought ‘Why not Florida?’
During
a great holiday in Orlando in 2002, we really started to think the possibility
through in a serious way (it’s very easy to do this sitting by a pool whilst
relaxing in the sunshine!). Returning to England, we did a lot of homework
and returned in late 2002, to find a house we liked and sign on the dotted
line.
At first we looked at a
smaller 4 bedroom house but fell in love with the design of the one we
eventually purchased. It gave us a room for both girls as well as a second
double room with en-suite for guests… and if we brought out even more guests the
girls could double up and have friends in the next room. (This can be great fun
for our girls but hectic for us older adults!). We chose to add the spa –
something we enjoy and find very relaxing after a busy day walking around a
theme park – we hope you will too.
Although we
thought the formal lounge wouldn’t get used much it makes a wonderfully quiet retreat if
the children want to use the PS2 … or the TV/DVD/VCR … or the stereo!!
Why
Glenbrook? Well Glenbrook gave us lots of “extras” over many alternative housing
communities, or sub-divisions, that we could have chosen. As well as being
quiet and safe it has the Clubhouse and activities based down there.
We enjoy
using a gym and often only found time to attempt tennis during holidays, so having a court
so close would be great. The girls love air hockey and are trying to get to grips with
pool and tennis. And the media room – well we’ve seen some DVDs and enjoyed the large
screen and brilliant sound. The Club House, together with its facilities, can be really
useful if we, or guests, need to arrive early before the house is available, or check-out
and don’t have flights until the evening. With air conditioned rooms, a pool with sun loungers, tables and chairs and restrooms,
a children's tot lot play area planned for November 2009 and activities it can be really useful to pass
some time in comfort – and free to all our guests.
Add to that,
from our front door to the 192 its just under two miles, and we’re just 10 minutes from Disney,
close to fantastic golf courses and many wonderful shopping outlets.
Within walking distance is Sweetbay, a grocery store with great fruit,
vegetables, a deli and bakery and Walgreens and CVS. Nearby is a Wal-Mart SuperCenter,
Winn Dixie and Public plus many restaurants. Close by is the I4 for Universal and Sea World.
We really enjoy
our home and all that Orlando has to offer.
We hope you
will visit our home too situated close to the attractions and shops, but far enough away
from the hustle and bustle, in a house which gives a peaceful feeling after a busy day
soaking up all that Orlando has to offer.
….And our
daughters - as they grow they just want to visit their ‘second’ bedrooms again and again, swim in the
pool, do the parks and as they get older really love to do some retail therapy!!!!
We hope
you'll want to visit and enjoy our home.
